Willy Vlautin is the author of
“The Motel Life”.
Since Willy Vlautin is the singer/songwriter for the band Richmond Fontaine, it’s likely
that he’s an authority on motels, due to all the touring the band does. He
first developed his love of music when his brother moved to LA, and began to
send him tapes featuring bands that fused Country and Western with punk rock
energy. Willy Vlautin formed his first band at the age of 16. Richmond Fontaine
have released the following albums: “Safety”
(1996), “Miles
From” (1997), “Lost Son”
(1999), “Whiskey, Painkillers and Speed – A Live Album”, “Winnemucca”
(2002), “Obliteration
by Time”, “Post to Wire”,
and “The
Fitzgerald” (2005). Willy was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. He’s had
short stories published in “Zembla”, “Sun Dog Southeast Review”, “Chiron
Review”, and “Cold Drill”. Willy Vlautin studied writing with the author
Randell Reed. He has also written 3 other novels that are yet to be published.
When he is not touring, Willy Vlautin lives in Portland, Oregon. Richmond
Fontaine first came together when Willy Vlautin moved to Portland in 1994,
after he became frustrated by the limited opportunities to play live in Reno.
