Saoirse and Daisy grow up in troubled times: their father often comes home
bruised and battered, unwelcome “gifts” are left at the back door, and the
family are besieged when it’s time for sectarian marches. They find refuge at
Antonini’s Ice Cream Parlour, and in their mother’s stories, but this is not
