Weslynn
McCallister interview (aka Jamie Cortland), author of the
following titles:
Shifting
Sands, Wyatt's Deck,
Apache
Springs, Prophecies of
the Ancients, Sorcerer's
Android, The Eye of
the Sorcerer and The Prince,
the Sorcerer and the Terrean Princess.
I was born in Evansville, Indiana, but raised in Roswell,
New Mexico.
What was it that first got you into writing and when did
you start writing?
Oh my! I have always told stories...from the time I was
five years old I created stories. Later, my friends and I acted them out. When I was in my twenties and thirties, I
wrote articles for newsletters etc.
When I was in my forties, I began to write poetry and won many awards.
From there, I moved on to novels.
Ernest Hemingway. Of the contemporary authors, Nora
Roberts and James Patterson.
Romance, Sci-fi Romance, Time Travel Romance and Romantic
Suspense Novels as well as articles and poetry.
A time-travel romance novel set in the 1800's during the
California gold rush.
I rise early and begin writing about 7:00 a.am. until
about 11.00a.m. After that, I pick up and answer e-mails. Afternoon is spent
doing research on novels, working on advertising and running errands.
Hopefully, evening is spent with friends or family. If I have a deadline for a
manuscript, well then, I write.
There are so many exciting things about writing. I
suppose the best is seeing my dream become a reality.
Reading drafts over and over again making sure everything
is perfect.
