“Voodoo Heart” is the title of
Scott Snyder’s debut collection of short stories. All the stories focus on the
notion of ‘longing’. Scott Snyder’s “Blue Yodel”, previously published in
“Zoetrope All-Story” is present here (the ‘blue yodel’ refers to a cry of
longing from far away). Also present is “Detour”, and no doubt “Happy Fish,
Plus Coin” and “About Face” will be included too. According to the publishers,
this anthology “is an astonishing debut collection that heralds the emergence
of a mesmerizing new voice”. There are many commentators who are very excited
