Crowther’s debut novel. It’s the story of Sara, who lives in London with her
Iranian mother, Maryam. Maryam’s past is swathed in mystery to her daughter,
and Sara struggles to understand her. Maryam’s father was in the Shah of Iran’s
army, and it he who Maryam asks for an education instead of an arranged
marriage. However, it is Maryam’s father who sends her into exile for a sin
that she did not commit. Now, in an attempt to find closure, Maryam decides to
