“The Olive Readers” is the title of Christine Aziz’s debut
novel. The novel is set in a dystopian future world where each particular
workforce is directed to produce one specific product. Books are banned, so
knowledge from the past is practically unknown. However, in the olive producing
area of Olea, the “Olive Readers” have a secret library in the house of
Jephzat’s family… Jephzat is ordered to stay behind by the Company, after her
parents are relocated, and her sister goes missing… Jephzat faces hostility
from the other villagers following this. She falls in love with Homer, the man
she once saved from the Company Commissioners. As his name might suggest, Homer
is a member of the Readers, and he introduces Jephzat to the library… As
Jephzat learns more, she becomes embroiled in a plan that will endanger her
life… To find out more about the author, you must visit our Christine Aziz page.
