“The Forbidden Room” is the
title of the debut novel by Sarah Wray, who won the “Wow Factor” competition with
this story. It’s the dark tale of Jenny, a teenage girl, who loses her parents
in a catastrophic car crash, which also leaves her disabled. Jenny is then
fostered by a family who have lost their 2 older children to a genetic disease.
Yet Jenny’s troubles are far from over…Phillip Schofield, one of the judges of
the “Wow Factor”, said: “Sarah is a great story teller, and The Forbidden
Room is a terrific read from beginning to end with its unlikely mix of orphans,
disability, teenage love, pottery and illegal gene therapy… It's a slow-burn
thriller that manages to be sensitive to the subjects it deals with while also
being thought-provoking.” To find out more about the author, you must visit our

The pupils in 2k at Methodist
College Belfast wrote in to say: “The Forbidden Room is an amazing book. Sarah
Wray has captured the hearts of many in the inspiring story. I think she
definitely is the new JK Rowling. Harry Potter here she comes!!!”
