title of Simon Beckett’s latest novel. Dr. David Hunter is called in by the
police when the bizarrely mutilated body of a young woman is found in the
isolated Norfolk village, Manham. Hunter knew the young woman, but thought that
he had turned his back on his previous career of forensic anthropology after a
personal tragedy. Then another young woman disappears, which threatens to pull
the whole community apart. But is Hunter prepared to pay the awful price that
