Susan Voth interview, author of Liquored Words & Afterthoughts

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Edmonton, AB Canada but lived most of my life in Moncton, NB Canada.

What was it that first got you into writing and when did you start writing?

I began writing around the age of twelve in school. It was just something I did as part of an assignment but continued to do thereafter.

Which writers have influenced you the most?

Jim Morrison was instrumental in my poetic development. He radiates spirituality and freethinking throughout his writing.

What kind of things do you write?

I have a book of poetry out currently but am now working on a fantasy/romance novel.

What are you working on now?

I am currently working on a Fantasy/Romance novel entitled Firestone.

What is your writing day like?

I wish it looked better. I don't write everyday. Unfortunately writing isn't my main source of income (yet).

What's the most exciting thing about writing for you?

Realizing that someone is getting something from your writing is phenomenal. If someone can feel a piece because of how you wrote it (or felt something you hadn't intended) it's an amazing feeling.

What's the most frustrating thing about writing for you?

The most frustrating thing about writing is the fact that I can't do it full time yet. I'd love to stay home and write all day, but work beckons.

What's the best piece of feedback that you've had from your audience?

I've received a lot of feedback about my site and I thank all those who've helped me mold it into what it is today.

Do you write for a particular audience, or is your first priority to satisfy your own creativity?

I've never written for anyone else, I guess you can say I am clearly selfish.  I've never seen the need to write for the "public". Some will like your work and others may not, it's for them to decide and you have to have a conscience about your own writing.

Do you have a homepage? Do you have any short stories or poems published online? (If so, please provide the URLs):
