Steve Augarde was born in Birmingham in 1950.
However, he goes on to tell us that "my family moved to the Somerset when
I was a baby, so consider myself a West Country man rather than a Brummie. Not
that there's anything wrong with Brummies. Became interested in children's
books when I was at art college in the late sixties. Have now
written/illustrated/paper-engineered around eighty I think. Most of these are
for younger children, but I have more recently been concentrating on novels.
I'm part way through a trilogy. The first part The Various
was a Smarties prizewinner in 2003. The second part, Celandine
is currently a nominee for the Carnegie Medal. My publisher is David
Fickling." The final part of the
trilogy is entitled
Winter
Wood (2007).
