Otherwise, it is too dark--except for the brilliance of the writing itself. So there is this splendor of truth in it, "depressing" as it is. For what! For something (or someone) worthless! Down deep the "The Necklace" is about the pure gift of grace. Something "beautiful in itself." Or, if you will, "something beautiful for God."
