Creative writing at Shepherds Bush Library
Shepherds Bush Junction Writing Group
Writers’ block, finding the mood to write, building creative stamina, and staying disciplined are just some of the problems most writers face. In these sessions led by Anjan Saha and Dzifa Benson, you will work within a supportive environment to strengthen your writing muscle and explore all forms of writing from poetry to script writing.

Work from this collective featured in the Westwords Festival at the Bush Theatre and Lyric Theatre in Spring 2006. Following on from this, Anjan Saha created the London Literature Lounge, where members from this group read at London's famous Poetry Cafe (along with writers from Harrow and Uxbridge).

About the tutors:
Anjan Saha is a London poet and short story writer. In 1996 he founded Midnight Ink, a literature and live art development project based at the Riverside Studios, London. Since then he has gone on to tour with Renaissance One "KIN" and performed across the globe from the Jazz Cafe in Czech Republic to Mumbai, India. He has received numerous commissions including Tate Britain and Ipswich Arts Festival. Between 2002/5 he was a member of the seminal writing collective Poetry Kitchen and has written and performed three critically acclaimed shows; Mathematics of Rain, Tales from the Cooking Pot and most recently with his band Lost Luggage - the Art of Travelling Lightly. Anjan is currently involved in running the Shot from the Lip and Metrowords festivals. Read our Anjan Saha interview, and some of Anjan Saha's poems:Watering Can, Footsteps, and September Rain. Read our review of Anjan Saha's double bill with Micropixie.

Dzifa Benson writes poems, short stories and radio plays. She is currently working on her first novel and a documentary about the
evolution of African music. Her music and film journalism has appeared in "The Guardian", "Evening Standard" and "Trace" magazine. A featured writer in the "Tell Tales Volume One" short story anthology and national tour in 2004, she has performed poetry and read short stories to audiences at the Tate Britain Gallery, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Speakeasy in Manchester and at the Westwords Literary Festival in west London.  Read our Dzifa Benson interview
