“Sharp Objects” is the title of the debut novel by Gillian
Flynn, which is due to be published in autumn 2006.It’s been described as “The
Virgin Suicides meets Dolores Claiborne”. It features a young journalist who’s
sent by her editor back to her small Missouri hometown to report on a murder
(the town is the fictional Wind Gap, in the Bootheel). However, her disturbed
family background seems to be inextricably linked up with the murders... The
novel is a psychological thriller mixed with a whodunit. To read a resume of
