Selma Dabbagh writes tales of the modern Middle
East. She started writing in 2003 and since then has enjoyed
burgeoning literary success having twice been selected as a Finalist for the
Fish Short Story Prize (which claims to have the largest prize fund for the
short story), with Aubergine in 2004,
and Beirut-Paris-Beirut, in
2005. Her story, Down the Market, was nominated by
English PEN as their submission to International PEN’s David TK Wong Short
Story Prize 2005. Her work is due to appear in several anthologies next year
and she is currently working on a novel.
