Russell Kirkpatrick is the
author of “Across
the Face of the World” (2004), “In the
Earth Abides the Flame” (2004), and “The Right Hand
of God”. He was born in
Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1961, where he lived till 2000. Russell
Kirkpatrick’s love affair with maps started at a very young age, as he used his
imagination to create new worlds. This interest led to him getting a PhD in
geography from the University of Canterbury in 1991. Russell Kirkpatrick now
works part time as a lecturer at the University of Waikato, and runs a small
mapmaking business. During the 90s, Russell worked as Deputy Editor of the “New
Zealand Historical Atlas” (1997), and he is also the author of “Contemporary
Atlas New Zealand” (1999), “Degrees of Deprivation” (2000), and “Land
Environments of New Zealand” (2003).
