Russell Kirkpatrick is the author of “Across the Face of the World” (2004), “In the Earth Abides the Flame” (2004), and “The Right Hand of God”.  He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1961, where he lived till 2000. Russell Kirkpatrick’s love affair with maps started at a very young age, as he used his imagination to create new worlds. This interest led to him getting a PhD in geography from the University of Canterbury in 1991. Russell Kirkpatrick now works part time as a lecturer at the University of Waikato, and runs a small mapmaking business. During the 90s, Russell worked as Deputy Editor of the “New Zealand Historical Atlas” (1997), and he is also the author of “Contemporary Atlas New Zealand” (1999), “Degrees of Deprivation” (2000), and “Land Environments of New Zealand” (2003).
