Rabina Khan is the author of Rainbow Hands, a
novel, like Brick Lane,
that is set in the Bangladeshi community in Tower Hamlets. That both
novels were published in 2003 is a happy coincidence.
She works for the Environment Trust,
but has previously worked on many community initiatives in Tower Hamlets to aid
understanding between people, and to help them access opportunities in
education, housing, health and employment. She is married with two
children (developed from the brief bio presented in her debut novel Rainbow Hands).
Authortrek
is happy to report that after she self-published “Rainbow Hands”, Rabina Khan
got an agent and a new publisher, and that the rewritten novel will shortly be
launched under the new title of “Ayesha’s
Rainbow”. It looks like Rabina
Khan has really hit the big time, as the novel was launched at an event hosted
by the excellent Rageh Omar.
