Philip Ó Ceallaigh is the
author of “Notes
from a Turkish Whorehouse”. He originates from County Waterford in the
Republic of Ireland, although he has lived in many countries, such as Britain,
Russia, Spain, the US, Georgia and Kosovo. He has been working as a freelance
writer, editor, and translator in Bucharest since 2000. Although there was a
time when he ran out of money, and then became the only Irish person to work
illegally on a building site in Romania. He is apparently the only writer who
has won Hennessey awards for both prose and poetry. He has had several short
stories published in Ireland, and even some in translation in Romania. In 2006, Philip Ó Ceallaigh won the
Fiction Award in the Glen Dimplex New Writers Awards for “Notes from a Turkish
Whorehouse.”
