Paul Torday is the author of “Salmon
Fishing in the Yemen” and “Bordeaux:
a Novel in Four Vintages” (2008). Paul Torday has mainly worked in
industry, most notably as a former regional director of the Northern CBI. A
keen Salmon fisherman, Paul Torday is chairman of the Tyne Rivers Trust. His
career has often taken him to the Middle East, so this looks to have affected
the setting of his debut novel. Paul Torday lives in Chipchase Castle, near
Wark, Northumberland. At the time that his publishing deal was struck in
December 2005, Paul Torday was 59.
Authortrek reader Charlie
Mortimer has written in to say: “Paul was my brother in law from 1971 until
around 1990 and we as a family were all extremely fond of him. However life
moves on and we hope that his novel is a massive success.”
