“Mozart’s Sister” is the title
of Alison Bauld’s debut novel. As the title would suggest, the novel is about
“Nannerl”, Maria Anna Mozart, the famous composer’s older sister. During her
childhood, she played music for the royal courts of Europe with her brother.
However, when she reached adolescence, she was left at home in Salzburg with
her mother. Although Nannerl composed music that Mozart praised, none of her
compositions has survived. She tells her story to Franz Xaver, Mozart’s younger
son. Amongst the stories Nannerl tells may be one that reveals Mozart’s real
burial place… To find out more about the author, you must visit our A.M. Bauld page.
