“Mosquito” is the working title
of Roma Tearne’s debut novel. A widowed writer returns to Sri Lanka from
Britain to settle. He is rejuvenated by his relationship with Nulani, a young
Sri Lankan painter. However, Sri Lanka is at the height of its troubles, and
the lovers are torn from each other in the violence. The novel is set in London
and Venice, as well as Sri Lanka, and it has been described as ambitious and
