Mark Torrender page

Mark Torrender was born in Sacramento, California and grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts. In 1978 he saw his first publication - a weekly comic strip that was used by the town newspaper. Soon after this he and his family moved to the west side of Ireland. After winning a short story contest about extraterrestrial life, he began to outline stories set in the Athaia universe, first writing The Eye of Athaia.

In 1998, Mark worked on scripts for the British children's television series, The Wombles. Soon after, Mark published his first childrens novel, Buzz ~ The Battle of Bumbleton Wood (Authorhouse), in which a boy is transformed into a bee and joins a hive, right on the eve of a terrible Wasp attack. www.bumbleton.co.uk

Mark also works as a feature film scriptwriter, having worked on two horror scripts for Hollywood’s Little Slices of Death production company. These scripts are currently (as of March 2008) being considered by a party of financial backers.

Returning to adult fiction, Mark has recently completed Blood Family, a mystery adventure novel that gives the vampire legend a new twist. Daniel Dark searches for his mother who has been imprisoned by his vampire father. On a journey half way around the world, Daniel discovers the truth about what vampires really are - and it’s much worse than what the legends say: www.bloodfamily.co.uk. It was Blood Family that attracted the interest of literary agent Isabel Atherton, who offered Mark representation in Creative Authors Ltd. The book and its subsequent sequels are currently under consideration by Hodder & Stoughton, one of the world’s largest publishers.
