The Companions Quartet: Bk. 4”. Julia Golding was born in 1969.
As she grew up, she became enchanted by the mysterious trees of the nearby
Epping Forest, which stimulated her imagination. Julia Golding read English at
Cambridge. After graduating, she joined the Foreign Office, who sent her to
Poland. Her career had its highs and lows – at one time, she was sent to
inspect the bottom of a Silesian coal mine. After leaving the Foreign Office,
Julia Golding worked as an academic at Oxford University, where she was awarded
a doctorate in the literature of the English Romantic Period. Julia Golding
then joined Oxfam as a lobbyist on conflict issues. Julia Golding won the 2006
Ottakars Children’s Book Prize for “The Diamond of Drury Lane”. She lives in
Oxford with her family.
