Jonathan Freedland is the
author of the non-fiction titles “Jacob’s
Gift”(2005) and “Bring Home
the Revolution” (1998 - it won the 1999 Somerset Maugham Prize for
Non-Fiction). He was born in 1967. From 1986 to 1989, he attended Wadham
College, where he was awarded a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
Jonathan began his career in journalism by working for the short-lived “Sunday
Correspondent”. From 1992, he spent several years working in Washington,
firstly for “The Washington Post”, then as Washington correspondent for “The
Guardian”, while also working for BBC News. This association continued from
1995 to 1997 when Jonathan Freedland presented “American Graffiti” for BBC
Radio 5 Live. Since 1997, Jonathan Freedland has worked as a columnist and
editorial writer for “The Guardian”. He currently also writes for “The Jewish
Chronicle”, and presents BBC Radio 4’s “The Long View”. In 2002, Jonathan
Freedland was named “Columnist of the Year” in the “What the Papers Say”
awards.
