Jon Canter is the author of “Seeds of
Greatness”. In 1974, he was president of “Footlights”, the Cambridge
University comedy club, where he wrote and performed with the likes of Clive
Anderson, Geoffrey McGivern, Griff Rhys Jones, John Lloyd, and Douglas Adams.
This led Jon to write for many classic comedy TV shows: “Alas Smith and Jones”,
“A Bit of Fry and Laurie”, “Lenny go Home”, “The Craig Ferguson Story”, “Lenny
Henry: In Dreams”, “The Lenny Henry Show”, “Lenny Henry Gets Wild”, “Who Dares
Wins”, “Murder Most Horrid”, “In Dreams”, “The Good Sex Guide”,
“Fortysomething”, and “Posh Nosh”. He also wrote the screenplay for “The Man”
in 1999 (which starred Lenny Henry), and he contributed to the animated series
of “Mr. Bean”. Jon Canter graduated from Cambridge University with a law degree,
which he put to good use by working in the publishing and copywriting
industries, before he became a scriptwriter for the above shows. “Seeds of
Greatness” is Jon Canter’s debut novel, which is likely to be more funny than
these previous publications, which he co-wrote - “Headway Video Intermediate”
and “Creating Opportunities” - although you never know.
