Jim Younger is the author of “High John
the Conqueror”. Jim Younger was born in 1950 in Elephant and Castle,
London, although his family originally came from Scotland. He was taught to
read at an early age. Jim Younger first got into music when his family bought
him an accordion. He was taught the accordion by the same woman who taught
Tommy Steele guitar. From the accordion, Jim has graduated onto other musical
instruments, such as the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and the concertina. Jim
toured as a musician in his early 20s, and has also worked as a clerk in a
urological supplies company (selling testicular implants, amongst other
products), as a teacher in further and adult education for 13 years, and as a
government official.
