2005 was a great year for Jane
Rusbridge, as she won first prize in the short story category for the “Writers
inc” Writers of the Year competition with a tale called “Angus”. This follows
her success in 2003, when she was one of ten runners-up in the Bridport Prize.
She is currently working on a novel based on this short story (“Left over Right
and Under”). Jane Rusbridge has also tasted success in other competitions – the
2001 Asham Award and the 1999 Philip LeBrun Prize. In 2004, she was awarded a
Distinction for an MA in Creative Writing at University College, Chichester,
where she now teaches as an associate lecturer. Her short stories and poems
have been published in various anthologies: “An Unorthodox Love Affair” in
“Mouth Ogres” in 2001, and two poems in “The Promise of Rest”, from Ragged
Raven Press in 2002. Jane
Rusbridge lives in West Sussex with her family.
On the
last day of September – a poignant poem that was published in “The
Interpreter’s House” in 2001.
