Wild, and Got a Life” is the title of Kaavya Viswanathan’s debut novel. Opal’s parents
have raised their daughter to get into Harvard. They even have an acronym for
their plan: HOWGIH – “How Opal will get into Harvard”. Opal is worked hard, so
much so that she takes welding classes at high school in order to look well
rounded… But Opal is stumped when the Harvard admissions dean asks her: “what
do you like to do for fun?” The Dean gives Opal another chance, and so the
Mehtas come up with another plan: HOWGAL – “How Opal will get a life”… But can
