Fran
Tracey was the second author that we published in our new series of short
stories - Hiding in the Dark is now available from Lulu.com for 50p on

Fran
Tracey is exactly the kind of writer that I want to encourage by publishing
this series of online short stories.
She’s already had success in short story competitions elsewhere, and I
know from previous experience that such a great track record can lead to a
professional publishing contract.
Despite her previous success, Fran is very open to listening to
constructive criticism of her work, and this makes her a delight for any editor
to work with, and this is perhaps why she is so successful. I am certain that Hiding in the Dark
will chime with many readers, as unfortunately, I am sure that many of us have
had to suffer one very bad teacher from our schooldays… Buy Hiding in the Dark from Lulu.com

Fran Tracey writes: “I love writing –
especially about people. For me, plots
emerge from characters. Creating
characters and exploring their motives and actions fascinates me – and
satisfies my innate nosiness, I guess.
I often include flashbacks in my stories – I enjoy exploring memory –
how the past informs and influences the present, where the truth lies, if there
is such a thing, and the unreliability of a point of view. Oh, I like writing humour too, and just
telling a tale.
I
am a librarian by profession (lots of people-watching opportunities – all human
life passes through libraries), and I have also worked as an adult education
tutor. Over the last few years I have
been widely published – in women’s magazines both in the UK and
internationally, and I have won several writing competitions. I have also contributed to Accent Press’s Sexy
Shorts for the Beach compilation in aid of Breast Cancer, and am a
current contributor to their erotic imprint.
I
love trying out different genres, and writing for a wide variety of audiences –
I hope it keeps my writing fresh, and it’s a way of challenging myself.”
