Declan Hughes is the author of
“The
Wrong Kind of Blood” and “The Colour
of Blood” (2007). Declan Hughes was born in Dublin. He is best known for
being a playwright and director. Declan Hughes is the author of the following
plays: “I Can’t Get Started” (1990), “Digging for Fire” (1991), “New Morning”
(1992), “Hallowe’en Night” (1992), “Love and a Bottle” (1992), “Twenty Grand”
(1998), and “Shiver”
(2003). In 1990, he was joint winner of the Stewart Parker New Playwright
Award. He has also won a “Time Out” Theatre Award. Declan Hughes was
writer-in-residence for the Rough Magic Theatre Company for many years, a
company he co-founded in 1984, and where he was Artistic Director until 1992.
He has also worked in TV and Film with “Career Opportunities” and “Joe My
Friend”. “The Wrong Kind of Blood” is Declan Hughes’ debut novel. Four of his
early plays have been collected in “Hughes
Plays 1”.
