Clare Scurfield won the 2005 Bridport
Prize with a short story called “Taking Off”. Clare Scurfield originally comes
from Norfolk. She read Literature and Philosophy at the University of Warwick.
She began writing stories in 1990 when she moved to London. Clare Scurfield has
worked as a typist for the BBC, before working for a Methodist church. She now
works as an administrator at University College London (UCL).
