Andromeda Romano-Lax is the author
of the novel “The
Spanish Bow”. She is also the author of several travelogues: “How to Rent a
Park Cabin in Southcentral Alaska”, “Alaska’s
Kenai Peninsula: a Traveller’s Guide”, and “Adventure
Kayaking Baja”. In 2002, “Searching for
Steinbeck’s Sea of Cortez”, Andromeda’s recreation of journeys made by John
Steinbeck and friend Ed Ricketts in 1940, was published. As Andromeda
Romano-Lax has observed, many other travel writers are men travelling alone,
but she tends to take the whole family with her, diapers and all.
Andromeda Romano-Lax has a masters degree in Marine
Management from Dalhousie University. She has also taught creative writing at
the University of Alaska. Her journalism has appeared in many national and
regional publications. She has been a staff writer for both the “Anchorage
Daily News” and the “Homer News”. Andromeda Romano-Lax is also working on the
forthcoming “Around the World with a Hammer”, which will involve Romano and her
family travelling around the world, helping to build houses as they go.
