Biography

Bennett is one of the most celebrated writers in Britain today. His play The History Boys won seven
Emmys in New York as well as Evening Standard, Critics Circle, Olivier
and South Bank awards and was the most successful play in the history of the
National Theatre. Untold Stories
won PEN/Ackerley Prize for Autobiography and the Hawthornden Prize and sold
over 700,000 copies. Having dealt with
the Queen, Alan Bennett has now turned his attention to the English poet
W.H.Auden about whom he is writing a play for the National Theatre.
