"4-4-3" is the
title of Eamonn "Spud" Murphy and Jeremiah Scanlon's debut novel.
It's set in the glorious year of 1977, when Liverpool won the European Cup for
the first time. Unfortunately, Brent Valley football club is not destined to
reach these exalted heights any time soon, especially as they finished in the
bottom half of the bottom division of the West Middlesex Football Alliance,
mainly due to the fact that their squad consists of exactly 11 men, so no-one
can be dropped, even if they are the crappest of the crap.
However, changes
are afoot this season, as the club has appointed a manager and given him ‘carte
blanche’, even though none of them knows what it means. Of course, everyone
wants the team to win a trophy, and to be full of players with ability, as long
as they're not the ones who are dropped... You can find out more about one of
the authors on our Jeremiah
Scanlon page.
